I'm Keri, a Kiwi mum in Denmark living with a Dane (hereafter referred to as 'The Dane') and our daughter, Bilingual Backpack Baby (BBB) .

I created this website in 2016 as a newly arrived international in Denmark. And for four years this is where I shared our learning’s and character building experiences navigating a new life in Denmark.

In 2020, I decided to ‘hang up my ‘blog boots’ and concentrate on creating content via Instagram & Facebook and writing a book (Nothing like a Dane). But I’m leaving all my first four years of learning’s here for those newly arrived to Denmark to learn and chuckle over.

If we haven’t met before, then you need to know I share our adventures and thoughts on all things Denmark with a New Zealand filter. I like 'smokos', 'tiki tours' and confusing people with Kiwi slang. BBB likes confusing me with her bilingualism and often acts as a translator for me when my vocal chords (or is it cords?) get stuck between Danish gears. I've been learning Danish for several painful years, challenging my previously monolingual disability and have now reached børnehave (that's kindergarten in Danish), fluency. We ride our bikes daily (without lycra). BBB & The Dane loves rugbrød (ryebread) and I don't. I prefer instead to be distracted by pastries. Just ask my waistline.

in 2022 I released my book Nothing Like a Dane in New Zealand and Denmark where it is having an exciting adventure reaching hundreds of readers (with hundreds more requesting it in libraries throughout New Zealand). If you live somewhere else in the world, then never fear as you can purchase the paperback or e-book through your favourite global book platform. Just search for my name.

So if any of this tickled your fancy, then I’d be honoured if you headed to my author website to find out more. Or better yet sign up to my e-newsletter The Chinwag and you’ll be one of the first to know when the audio book, Danish translation and my next book ‘Nothing Like a Kiwi’ is released.
